#28daysofyin Day 28 - Then Comes Deer Pose!
#28daysofyin Deer Pose. A yummy glute and IT stretch and maybe groin, working the external rotation of the front thigh and internal rotation of the back thigh. I like to come into this pose from a seated position, bending the front leg to a 90 degree (right) angle (i.e. shin parallel to the top edge of your mat, or imaginary mat haha). The back leg swings back, like in frog pose, so the back THIGH is parallel-ish to the front edge of the mat. Vague, I know, but you have to experiment a little here. If you feel like you are tipping over, tuck the back foot in closer to your bottom. Try to keep both sitting bones on the ground; move that back foot towards the butt until you find that connection. Lean forward over the shin, aiming for the torso between the front foot and knee, or sit upright (bottom and top pic respectively). Great way to explore the rotation of your hips, can help with digestion, can reduce leg swelling and can be a nice decompression for the lower back if folding forward. A great alternative to pigeon pose! 2.5 mins per side, or 5 mins per side if time permits. Focus on softening the pelvis to the floor and feel the femurs dropping out of the hip sockets, creating space in the joints. Questions? Ask away. #yinyoga #yin #deer #deerpose #glute #ITband #stretch #yoga #onzie #yogaforall #yogaforallnewcastle #newcastle
